On seeing the prima donna - Lisa - of then show he's attending, Gerald is immediately taken by her. Determined to win her affection, he finds his chance when an accident causes her dress to catch fire, and he leaps onto the stage, poised to be her saviour. And despite a clumsy stagehand knocking him, he is successful, and Gerald finds himself waking up in her house, with Lisa pledging to nurse the injured man back to health. It is not long before the two of them fall deeply in love - though their fledgling romance is soon strained, and the two must find a way to settle their differences, lest they lose each other forever.
