The Awful Truth

A series of half-truths and misunderstandings see Jerry and Lucy Warriner at each other's throats - and, shortly after, filing for divorce. With the two of them seething at each other, both take it upon themselves to pursue different romantic partners, and find happiness without the other - and perhaps even spite them a little. Fate is a fickle mistress, however, and even as they work to undermine each other's efforts to find a new partner, the two begin to realise that perhaps they don't hate each other as much as they once thought they did - though whether they can swallow their pride and admit this to each other is another matter entirely!
