War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. These are the truths that Winston Smith lives by under the rule of Big Brother, loyally carrying out his assigned task to fix historical records, thereby telling the truth that the Party deems correct. Outwardly, he appears as any drone in the system - loyal, unerring in his duty, and subservient. In truth, he resents what the regime has done to him and his people, and how the populace have been brainwashed into little more than machines. It is only when he enters a forbidden tryst with his coworker Julia that he remembers life without the Party, and the true nature of their tyranny begins to reveal itself to him.
